Southend completed the signing of Eastleigh winger Damian Scannell at the beginning of January 2008.
Manager Steve Tilson swooped to land the services of the winger for £5,000 from the Blue Square South side.
And having agreed personal terms in December, the opening of the transfer window paved the way for the youngster to sign a two-and-a-half-year deal at Roots Hall.
Scannell scored seven times in 25 appearances for Eastleigh and then went on to make nine appearances as a substitute for Southend during the 2007/08 season.
Scannell has struggled with injuries during his time with the Blues and spent time on loan at Brentford last season.
