Southend completed the signing of striker Alex Revell from Brighton & Hove Albion for £150,000 in January 2008.
Blues manager Steve Tilson had made no secret of the fact he had been looking for new recruits up front, as Revell put pen to paper on a two-and-half year contract.
Revell began his career at Cambridge United, but having dropped down to Non-League football, it was at Braintree Town where he really made a name for himself.
He scored 36 goals to help Braintree win the Ryman Premier title; a prolific record which helped earn him a move to Brighton in July 2006.
At Brighton, Revell scored 18 goals in 59 starts, but his progress at Southend was hit last season, after he broke his leg at Leyton Orient in January 2009.
Revell has since made a full recovery though and will be looking to build on his 39 appearances and four goals for the club this season.
